Exhibit: Rock Art Perspectives

In conjunction with our celebration of Texas Archeology Month (October), we have organized an exhibit concentrating on the Lower Pecos Canyonlands. This exhibit will include images of the 4,000 year old rock art preserved in the Pecos Canyonlands. Additional images of rock art images found in Texas will also be represented.

Rock Art of the Lower Pecos Canyons - Dr. Carolyn Boyd

SHUMLA executive director, Dr. Carolyn Boyd, will discuss the archeological research and documentation being done by the SHUMLA team on the rock art of the Pecos Canyonlands.

Dr. Boyd will sign copies of her book, Rock Art of the Lower Pecos, after the presentation. Books will be available for purchase in our Museum Store.

Monster!

Monster Project Exhibit

This exhibit will showcase the SHSU Illustration class, led by professor Charlotte Drumm, who will take drawings of monsters completed by HISD first grade students and manipulate drawings using detailed illustration techniques such as texture, shadow, and environments. The children's drawings will become finished, detailed illustrations.

It's Christmastime and the Griswolds are preparing for a family seasonal celebration, but things never go as planned for Clark, his wife Ellen and their two kids. Clark's continual bad luck is worsened by his obnoxious family guests, but he manages to keep going knowing that his Christmas bonus will arrive any day!

Bring your friends and family to the Museum this first Friday evening in December for a night of laughs and fun!

Popcorn and drinks sold at the Museum Store. Movie admission free to the first 150 patrons.

A Houston Family Christmas

CWA Angel Show

Kick off the holiday season by coming to the Museum Complex for a day of holiday cheer!

We are planning a day full of activities for all members of the family! Come to the Museum and spend the day, take your photo with Santa in the Rotunda, sample punch and cookies as you tour the Houston's Woodland Home and other historic houses, stop and watch the various demonstrators on our grounds that will be demonstrating spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, pottery, Cherokee indian customs, and woodworking! Cross off that Christmas shopping list by visiting the Angel Show in the Walker Center, where there will be arts and crafts and gifts for everyone on your list!
